Shooting on Train tracks is illegal and dangerous.
Roughly every three hours in the U.S., a person or vehicle is hit by a train. -Operation Lifesaver
Here are Operation Lifesaver’s six “must-know” facts for professional photographers considering a photo shoot near the tracks:
1. Trains can’t stop quickly to avoid people or vehicles on the tracks.
2. An optical illusion makes it hard to determine a train’s distance from you – and its speed.
3. The average train overhangs the track by at least three feet.
4. Railroad tracks, trestles, yards and rights-of-way are private property.
5. No tracks should be assumed to be abandoned or inactive.
6. People mimic your behavior when they see your photos on the web and social media.
Top priority is safety, true, but as Professional Photographers, I would also think that each and every TRUE PROFESSIONAL should be offering our clients more CREATIVE and ORGINAL options by now, without the risk of a $10,000 fine and possible arrest to the photographer AND their clients.
I’ve tested and compared several of the nation’s top professional printing labs. The labs that I’ve chosen to work with offer only the highest quality prints. All printers are not created equal, unfortunately. It can be difficult for lower-quality printers to accurately replicate the colors you see on a computer screen. I’ve calibrated my equipment to match the labs I work with. This means the color, exposure, and sharpness of the prints you order through me will closely match the photographs themselves.
We are happy to provide a digital copy of the images you order (as prints, wall art or in an album) that are sized to easily share with friends and family on social networking sites or through email. They have a small watermark and are not sized to print.
We certainly understand the interest in having an archival disc of all the images. Our desire is that our clients take advantage of our expertise, developed over many years, to create tangible wall art and heirloom albums that can be passed down to your children, rather than receiving a disc of images that inevitably sits in a to-do pile for months or even years (trust us, we are guilty of that as well!).
While many photographers provide the entirety of digital files from a session without each being fully perfected, we are not comfortable releasing high resolution images for enlargement without them being brought to our exacting standards. What we are comfortable releasing, however, is a thumb drive with your session’s digital proof files sized to a resolution that can be printed up to 8×10. We do have a minimum purchase requirement, which can be found on our pricing page.
For a 1 hour engagement session we typically deliver 25-50 images and for a wedding we typically deliver 75 images per hour of coverage. Keep in mind these numbers may increase or decrease depending on the flow of the day and the number of events/activities needing to be captured.
Each of our packages comes with a full resolution image download. However, we typically do not provide RAW (unprocessed) files from our shoots because we believe in delivering a finished product. In fact, we’re often shooting with the end (post-produced) product in mind.
